Our development process includes discovery, design, development, and deployment stages to ensure that our clients receive the best possible digital experience. We specialize in custom solutions using multiple frameworks and languages, including our own custom WordPress theme that utilizes full site editing and the Gutenberg block editor. As a small, close-knit team, we pride ourselves on our ability to make a significant impact on the organizations we work with. Although we are based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, we operate as a fully remote team. Our owner is a working leader who leads a separate application development team.


Job Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Remote Lead PHP Developer to join our team. This individual will play a crucial role in leading our growing WordPress team and be responsible for creating custom WordPress themes and plugins from scratch. The ideal candidate will be an expert in modern PHP, JavaScript, and CSS, as well as possess strong leadership skills. Preference will be given to applicants from the Tulsa area, but we will consider all qualified applicants from the United States. A strong personality fit with our team is essential. As we are a fully remote team, they must be able to communicate effectively and manage project tasks using collaboration tools such as Asana and Google Meet. The candidate will be responsible for managing Kinsta servers and must be an expert in the Linux command line and Git. The Remote Lead PHP Developer will supervise and provide guidance to our staff WordPress developers and grow their team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support our growing WordPress team, initially overseeing our staff developer in creating custom WordPress themes and plugins
  • Collaborate with the team to develop high-quality, scalable, and efficient code
  • Attend and lead client onboarding and planning meetings to understand project requirements and provide technical expertise
  • Work closely with our project manager to ensure the timely delivery of projects and client satisfaction
  • Continuously improve our development processes and best practices to ensure the highest quality of work
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure our solutions remain relevant and competitive
  • Effectively communicate and manage project tasks using collaboration tools such as Asana and Google Meet
  • Manage Kinsta servers and be an expert in the Linux command line
  • Utilize Git for version control and collaboration
  • Supervise and provide guidance to our staff WordPress developer

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a PHP developer, with a focus on WordPress development
  • Proven experience in leading and mentoring development teams
  • Expert knowledge of modern PHP, JavaScript, and CSS
  • Experience with building custom WordPress themes and plugins from scratch, including familiarity with full site editing and the Gutenberg block editor
  • Familiarity with multiple frameworks and languages
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • A passion for making a difference through technology and a commitment to our mission
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Expertise in the Linux command line and Git
  • An Associate's or Bachelor's degree is preferred

Nice-To-Have

  • Experience working with non-profits, churches, or community organizations
  • Proficiency in Laravel, Node.JS, React, and Vue.js
  • Located in or near the Tulsa, Oklahoma area
